November, 20134 - This was no ordinary commute back from a client session. After completing Access database training at local manufacturer, Cooper Atkins, DTS' Christine Mansfield started driving back to the office. The next few minutes realized a nightmare, as two cars crashed and then catapulted into a telephone pole.
As Mansfield and other drivers rushed to help, the scene deteriorated as smoke began to plume. "Instincts really kick at that point," commented Mansfield. Chaos ensued, as traffic continued on a very busy Route 68 as the scene played out. "We dodged passing motorists trying to make sense of the injuries," she commented as one motorist stumbled in shock and the other lay in her vehicle." Mansfield checked one and asked another passerby to accompany her to safer ground, and then pulled the other victim from the car. "The scariest scene was watching the smoke turn into flames in one car and then underneath the pooling gas-- and not knowing the next flash point. My hands shook trying to turn off the car, and drag that victim out". Screaming for help, Mansfield appealed to other spectators to help clear the victim to the side of the roard. "I lost my voice begging for help. Fortunately, others came to help carry the woman off, after I had pulled her from the wreckage." Mansfield helped to direct traffic away from the victims as emergency personnel arrived on-scene.
The great news is that all were ok!
