Know Thyself in Mapping 2018 Strategies |
| Looking back to an earlier 2016 newsletter article, we resurrected an 'oldie but goodie' advice about learning styles. Three current partners presented very different industry challenges to DTS:
- Growing healthcare partner trying to integrate new learning system across 25 new campus additions
- Stagnaged manufacturer with limited funds aiming to rebuild skills in existing employees. Recent recruiting efforts failed to find 'exactly the right match'. Training was intended to build employees to their position gaps.
- Financial / insurance conglomerate needed to boost employee morale numbers, after a recent survey revealed employees felt disengaged and under utilized, and felt 'out of date' with their new computers and changing on the job demands to use Excel and databases.
Discovery Training chief strategist Christine Mansfield met with each to learn their needs in a 'discovery session'. The immersion meeting included review of existing analysis, and in some cases, recommendations for learning surveys and assessments, to clearly understand what the need was. "In some cases, what the client considered a 'technology' training need really masked a deeper misalignment of resources to the product and operational goals of the company," commented Mansfield. "We like to understand how your employees prefer to learn, and how your training can help identify success plans too. I love the 4Mat methodology as a constructive framework to help clients understand the full learning cycle benefits of our methods. At the end of the day, your goals need to be clearly understand before training can start."
