The Work Menu

Do you work with the same Word documents over and over? Are you always having to go to your folders to open them? Here's a Word feature that will simplify finding and opening those frequently used files. Word includes an optional menu named Work. With the Work menu in place, you can choose Work/Add To Work Menu to add an open document to the menu list. You can add as many documents as you want and then open any document by selecting it from the Work menu.

To add the Work menu to your menu bar (or toolbar):

  1. Choose Tools/Customize to open the customize dialog box. Click the Commands tab.
  2. Under Categories on the left, click Built-in Menus.
  3. In the Commands list on the right, locate Work. Drag it to the menu bar or a toolbar.
  4. Click on Close.

    Now open one of your Word documents and click on Work and Add to Work Menu.
