"DTS Leads Business Rally"
March 30, 2009 - WALLINGFORD - More than 100 businesspeople united at the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce Business Rally on March 30, 2009. Discovery Training Services CEO, Christine Mansfield and Co-Chairperson of the Chamber's Legislative Committee, generated the rally idea only just a month ago. "The Committee rallied behind the idea of action, and bringing attention to the destructive taxes and mandates being proposed at the General Assembly". Despite the threatening weather, the crowd cheered the messages proclaimed from each business leader. WTNH and NBC30 News aired footage from the Rally, as well as front page news coverage in the Record -Journal and New Haven Register Business.
Mansfield addressed the crowd, acknowledging first the power of the Chamber to bring businesspeople together. "The Constitution and Declaration of Independence contain three powerful words, We the People. Today the Chamber unites 'we the people', 225 years later, to stand together for Commerce," commented Mansfield. "Today we stand, businessperson to businessperson, shoulder to shoulder, for commerce." The crowds cheered as Mansfield continued, "We stand today for more business, not more taxes. For more jobs, not more mandates. We stand today for business to stay in this great U.S.A., in this great state of Connecticut, and most importantly right here in our towns of Wallingford and North Haven. Thank you for standing up for business. Today we mean business!" Additional business owners spoke, as well as Mayor Dickinson and Senator Fasano.
